FIFA 15 tops UK charts for fifth week; Bayonetta 2 debuts in 7th

The latest FIFA title is at the head of the UK All Formats Top 40 for the fifth week running, despite a surge from Minecraft: PlayStation Edition.

This is the longest that any game has held onto the No.1 spot this year so far. And over the course of 2014, EA titles have been at the top of the charts for 18 weeks out of 43.

Meanwhile the PlayStation Edition of Minecraft shoots from ninth place to second following an 82 per cent rise in sales. This was helped out by strong sales of the PlayStation 4 version, which launched earlier this month, which was included in the new PS4 FIFA+Minecraft bundle.

Of the four new titles that launched this week only one made it into the Top 10 – Nintendo’s Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2. The game debuted at No.7.

And further down the charts, Civilization: Beyond Earth debuts at No.18, while Just Dance 2015 arrives in 19th. Ubisoft’s dancing title was released across six platforms, with Nintendo’s Wii version forming 55 per cent of sales.

It charted ahead of Sony’s Singstar: Ultimate Party, which debuted at No.32.

Below is the Top Ten for the week ending October 25th:

1. FIFA 15 (EA)
2. Minecraft: PlayStation Edition (Sony)
3. The Evil Within (Bethesda)
4. Destiny (Activision)
5. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Warner Bros)
6. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (2K Games)
7. Bayonetta 2 (Nintendo)
8. Forza Horizon 2 (Microsoft)
9. Alien Isolation (Sega)
10.Skylanders Trap Team (Activision)
