Square Enix has announced the PC re-release of Final Fantasy VIII.
The nearly 15-year-old game is available now as a downloadable offering on Steam for $11.99.
The re-release adds a Magic Booster feature that allows players to quickly gain a stock of spells to use in the game’s junction system, rather than having to grind them out from enemies.
It also includes the Chocobo World application, which was originally released in Japan as a Pocket Station game, and packs Steam achievements and cloud support as well.
The launch is the second such franchise re-release on Valve’s platform, with Final Fantasy VII landing earlier this year. The game made some solid noise at the time on Steam’s charts, so it’s no surprise to see Square following up.
