Fire Emblem: Awakening US launch sales best in franchise history

Nintendo’s 3DS title Fire Emblem: Awakening had the best first month sales in franchise history”, according to Nintendo of America.

The US release has sold more than 180k units since its February 4th launch, with around 63k of the total purchased digitally via the Nintendo 3DS eShop. A hardware bundle featuring Awakening debuted alongside the game’s North American release as well, so presumably those are also being counted as unit sales for the title.

In comparison, Nintendo DS effort Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon has sold just over 250k units since its US launch in February 2009.

Fire Emblem: Awakening lands in Europe and Japan on April 19th, and launches in Australiaon April 20th.
