Free-to-play PES 2016 kicks off on PC today

Konami’s F2P version of its football release PES 2016 is now available on PC.

Having arrived on PS4 and PS3 last month, the trimmed-down version of last year’s full-blooded premium release offers seven teams and three game modes – Exhibition, Training and MyClub, which is Konami’s answer to EA’s lucrative Ultimate Team mode.

And ultimately its MyClub, which is updated weekly, that Konami hopes will bring in the revenue lost by scrapping the game’s upfront fee via its microtransactions.

The F2P release will be compatible with all upcoming updates through the rest of the season, which presumably will span all the way until PES 2017.
