GAME adds 12 new shops for Christmas

UK retailer GAME has opened 12 new stores in the run-up to the Christmas trading period.

Game Retail’s stores director Dave Howard confirmed to MCV that the chain has opened four new permanent stores and eight temporary stores, while four stores have been relocated.

The firm hopes the new outlets will help it capitalise on what’s expected to be a major period for games retail, with the launch of PS4 and Xbox One.

We constantly review our property portfolio to make sure we’re in the right places to deliver for the gaming communities of the UK,” Howard stated. Christmas 2013 is going to be an incredibly important time for gamers with some amazing titles released and two new consoles launching.

We will continue to look at all opportunities to improve our position for every gaming community in the UK.”

GAME boss Martyn Gibbs confirmed at last week’s London Games Conference that the retailer has hired 4,500 temporary staff for the Christmas period.

We have recruited 100 people into our contact centre,” Gibbs revealed. The passion our consumers have for Xbox One and PS4 means we have to give people the best service we can. We need to be at the forefront in how we give people things.”
