Stranger things have happened. We can’t think of many, but we’re sure they have.
In what can only be described as the epitome of diversification, Game Retail Ltd has added a hotel suite to its empire of specialist video game stores.
That’s right, a hotel suite.
Called the GAME Pad – see what they did there? –the suite features three gaming zones: one for Xbox 360, one for PS3 and one for Wii U. Each one features a 40-inch TV and a selection of the latest releases, such as Black Ops II, Halo 4 and Assassin’s Creed III.
There’s is also an extra, non-gaming TV so that guests won’t miss that all-important X Factor eviction show or those late night poker tournaments.
When they’re not gaming, guests can help themselves to the contents of a fridge packed with pizza, snacks, beer, wine and soft drinks. Y’know, the healthy stuff that already forms the basis of a gamer’s diet.
And, when they’ve fragged each other into exhaustion, they can collapse on the king size bed and dream of the breakfast that awaits them in the morning.
The GAME Pad is based at the Staybridge Suites in Stratford, London and costs 199. That price covers the overnight stay, games, consoles, fridge and breakfast.
