Game over for LEGO Universe

A little over a year after launching, LEGO has announced its attention to close its free-to-play MMO title LEGO Universe in January.

The decision has lead to the closure of two of the firm’s studios; Play Well in the US and a second facility in Denmark.

As many as 115 Lego Group employees have been given their redundancy notice, after failing to yield enough money for a free-to-play project.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to build a satisfactory revenue model in our target group,” said the project’s executive Jesper Vilstrup.
