A report from torrent blog TorrentFreak suggests that video game piracy accounts for just 3.3 per cent of all illegally available online content.

The site gathered data from thousands of BitTorrent trackers to take s snapshot of what it estimated to be all publicly available torrents at the time.

Out of total torrents numbering 10.4m (representing data totalling in excess of 12TB), around 340k of these were games.

The PC was the overall most torrented format with 114k available torrents. However, PSP was the largest console format (31.7k) followed by Wii (25.7k), PlayStation [presumably this includes PS3, PS2 and PSOne] (24.2k), Xbox (24.1k) and DS (18.7k).

Video was by far the largest category with 5.5m torrents (9.1TB) followed by audio at 2.2m (845TB) and software (975/334TB). Movies were the largest video subcategory with 2m torrents while TV had 1m.
