Games firms Green Man Gaming and Dovetail make Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100

Digital retailer Green Man Gaming and simulation specialist Dovetail Games have been ranked as two of the UK’s best-performing private businesses.

The annual Sunday Times’ Hiscox Tech Track 100, compiled by Fast Track and published by The Sunday Times, serves as a measure of the top-performing British firms in a variety of sectors, and is ranked according to each business’ sales performance over the three years prior to the list.

Green Man Gaming placed 23rd in the rankings, with its sales estimated to have more than doubled each year from 2012 to 2015.

GMG’s sales grew from 1.9 million in 2011-2012 to 16.3 million in 2014-2015, with 90 per cent of these made to overseas markets.

"We’ve got an amazing customer base of guys and girls who are really interested in getting great games," Green Man Gaming founder and CEO Paul Sulyok told MCV. "They have been hugely supportive over the years.

"We alo have a fantastic set of commerical partners that we work with, all of whom I’ve very grateful to, because, back in 2010, when some of the early guys signed up, we were just a small dot on the map. A lot of guys in the industry showed a tremendous amount of faith in GMG and signed up to the platform. To those people in the industry we’re very grateful.

"Last, but not least, I’ve got a very professional, dedicated, hard-working team at GMG who continuously go the extra yard in order to be able to peform well in the market and push forward what we’re doing.

"The three key drivers of this are our amazing customer group, fantastic partners in the industry who’ve supported us throughout and then the brilliant team downstairs."

Meanwhile, Dovetail Games placed 81th, seeing 49 per cent annual growth over the same period.

The simulation title publisher saw its sales grow from 1.8 million in 2011-2012 to 6.1 million in 2014-2015, with the Tech Track noting the firm’s future focus on virtual reality.

Dovetail was additionally one of 15 South Eastern firms to be featured.

We’ve made a conscious decision to build experiences for a committed audience of enthusiasts, rather than to develop traditional mass-marketvideo games. As a result, we often don’t grab the headlines,” said Dovetail CEO Paul Jackson.

However, being included in this prestigious list is not just a great recognition of our substantial growth over the past few years – moreimportantly, it’s a very heartwarmingtestament to the hard work and talent of our people, who make what we do great.

Moving forward we will continue to work with cutting-edge technologies and recruit the very best talent so we can deliver an even broader collection of high-quality simulation hobbies to an ever-growing base of players.”
