Games suffer Ivor Novello Awards snub

Organisers for the Ivor Novello Awards have abandoned its excellence in games audio prize

The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA), which operates the event, said that “after much consideration it has been decided not to present the Best Original Video Games Score category at the 2012 ceremony”.

The games audio award was introduced in 2009.

“The breadth of entries we received compared with other categories has led us to review the way we recognise this sector of the writing community," the organisers told Develop. “We are committed to awarding the best in original scores for games and will be engaging with the games industry to ensure we continue to do so in the future.”
