The games industry gave five charities supporting disadvantaged kids big donation cheques this evening.
UK video games charity GamesAid this evening revealed the winners of its 2012 member vote.
Action For Kids, Jigsaw4U, Small Steps, Special Effect and The Willow Foundation were the five charities that got the nod from GamesAid members.
To be in the running each charity had to have a turnover of £5m or less and running costs of no more than 30 per cent.
Each will receive £36,000 in funding. This has been raised by several individuals and companies working across the games industry. Annual events include the Gem Golf and Spa Day, the Gamescom to Brighton bike ride, sponsored by NCSoft, the Sega cricket match, Rising Star Games Vets Football and the Eurogamer Expo party.
All those involved in the UK games industry are welcome to join GamesAid and can do so at the official website.
Congratulations to all five of this year’s successful charities.
