GameStop seeing ‘stronger demand’ for Xbox One since Kinect chop

Retailer GameStop reckons that consumers have started showing more interest in Xbox One since Microsoft announced a cut-price Kinect-less SKU is on the way.

Microsoft confirmed earlier this month that it would slash 50 off the price of the current hardware with a new 350 bundle that doesn’t include the Kinect motion camera.

"I definitely think we’re already seeing in our stores [that] there’s a stronger demand as a result of the price drop," GameStop president Tony Bartel told investors, as reported by IGN.

"The good news for us is we’ll sell a lot more units and that means there will be more [Xbox One] units out there to put software on."

The new Xbox One bundle won’t go on sale until June 9th, raising the possibility that sales of the hardware may suffer further in the interim.
