Get Battlefield 3 AND Modern Warfare 3 for £37.96

Cut-price trade-in deals have become the norm on the High Street, but now online-only retailer GameStop.co.uk has dragged the sector into the online arena.

The headline is Modern Warfare 3 for 99p, but in reality the new deal offers gamers the chance to buy both EA’s Battlefield 3 and Activision’s Modern Warfare 3 for £37.96.

This is how it works:

Gamers must buy Battlefield 3 for £36.97 from GameStop on either Xbox 360 or PS3.

Then, they need to also buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for £41.97.

The retailer will also ship out a padded pre-paid envelope. Customers can then use this to ship back their copy of Battlefield 3 before November 18th. Once GameStop receives it they’ll send out a new copy of Modern Warfare 3 and refund the buyer to the sum of £40.98.

It’s a fascinating new development in the increasingly competitive UK games sector and one that for the first time takes the High Street on at its own game.

Ben, little confused by your title and from the steps you outline I get a different conlusion...

£36.97 for BF3
£41.97 for MW3
= £78.94 for BOTH

Return BF3 for -£40.98 and recieve a copy of MW3.

= £37.96 for two copies of MW3...?

I think I'm missing something or have interpretated something incorrectly.....

I think it's the way he has writen this as I don't think you get 2 copies of MW3; why would you need 2. When you order MW3 on this deal what you get is an envelope. You send back BF3 (because it's not the great game they said it would be) and once teh retailer gets it, they ship to you MW3 and you get your refund.

This is when your copy of BF3 becomes MW3 (which will be more fun and have servers that work) and for the whole experience have shelled out a total of £37.96.

Even if i'm wrong, it won't take away that magical moment when the dissapointment of BF3 is replaced with the knowledge it's left you...
