GMAs 2009: Blyth named best print writer

Jon Blyth was named the best specialist writer in print at last night’s Games Media Awards.

The freelance writer is best known in games for work on PC Zone but has also written for OXM, OPM. Edge, Eurogamer, Vice and The Guardian.

He beat out Tom Francis (PC Gamer), Matt Handrahan (Games TM), Matthew Castle (NGamer), Darran Jones (Retro Gamer) and Gillen McAllister (OXM).

The Games Media Awards were held at Jongleurs, Camden, and hosted hundreds of the UK’s games media and marketing and PR execs.

Key sponsors were Bethesda’s WET, Activision’s DJ Hero, Electronic Arts, Formula One 2009 from Codemasters, IL-2 Stumovik from 505 Games, Namco Bandai, New Super Mario Bros Wii from Nintendo, Saw from Konami, Scribblenauts from Warner Bros., Sega, Ubisoft, and Xbox 360.
