Green Man Gaming goes continental

PC download firm Green Man Gaming is going international with four new European services.

The company has partnered with retail specialists Next Level Games for the Czech Republic, teamed up with CD Media for a Greek store and is working with Vivida for a Turkey download site.

All three digital stores are due in September and will be localised, with their own customer support and offers.

A fourth store is for the German market and will be launched on the IGN German site later in the year. This deal follows an agreement between Green Man Gaming and IGN’s licensee Media XP, and will see the store promoted not just on IGN, but in games and technology magazines.

All four territories have a thriving PC games market, particularly in Greece where 35 per cent of all game sales are on PC.

By launching four new stores with expert partners across Europe we are significantly increasing our audience, appealing to gamers who want to buy and trade their PC games in their native language, with local payment options and support,” Green Man Gaming MD Paul Sulyok told MCV.

We’re focused on expanding Green Man Gaming’s reach, on strengthening relationships with publishers and seeking to work with those who don’t currently benefit from our innovative distribution model.”

Green Man Gaming’s unique digital trade-in service lets consumers give games back for credit against future titles. The distributor now has over 700 titles on its stores from 75 publishers.

The retailer reaches 146 countries worldwide, and plans to announce more localised websites in the coming months.
