Guillemot: Half of games 3D by 2012

Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot believes roughly half of the games released for Xbox 360 and PS3 will be 3D compatible by 2012.

During yesterday’s investors call, he warned that 3D titles such as the publisher’s own James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game are likely to become a more common occurrence, according to CVG.

We will see more and more product coming in 3D on 360 and PS3 but also on portable machines,” said Guillemot.

We can count on substantial growth in the 3D market just because it’s more immersive, so it will be a good way for the industry to give even more emotion to the games.

I think next year we should see maybe 15 to 20 per cent of games will be 3D on next-gen consoles… and the following year will be at least 50 per cent of the games.”
