iGEA hosts successful industry briefing event

The Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (iGEA) held an industry briefing in Sydney yesterday to give an overview of the market.

The event housed publishers, retailers, journalists, college representatives and for the first time the Attorney-Generals’ department, and presented the 2011-2015 media outlook by PriceWaterhouseCoopers the latest findings from Roy Morgan Research.

Ron Curry, CEO of the iGEA, told MCV: "From our initial briefings where a handful of people attended, we now have around 100 people attending from across the wider industry."

"For example, last night’s event included members, developers, retailers, media, lawyers, government agencies and departments, social media specialists, PR people, educators and health specialists. It’s hard to think of another venue where this wide cross section of industry specific professionals is able to share in relaxed and open dialogue."

The briefing was held at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, and the iGEA plans to host and expand these events regularly moving forward.

Curry continued: "iGEA runs regular Industry Briefings for its members, partners and other stakeholders in an effort to provide useful and pertinent information across a series of topics and issues. It provides us with a platform to share information that may not be readily available to those attending."
