IN PICTURES: The ‘Super Slim’ PS3 4000

Images of the rumoured PS3 4000 – or PS3 Super Slim – have appeared online.

Brazilian tech site Tecnoblog says it sourced the stills from a Sony filing with telcoms regulator Anatel.

As is consistent with previous rumours, the new model appears to have a flip-top lid as opposed to an automated disc tray. This is the same approach Sony took when it redesigned the PS2 Slim.

The filing names three different SKUs – 250GB, 500GB and an entry-level 16GB (although who’d bet against that being a misprint that’s supposed to read 160GB?).

Talk of the PS3 4000 emerged at the beginning of the month. If true, expect the machine to be unveiled at Gamescom in August. Both of the pictures can be seen below:
