iOS App Store turns five, hit games go free to celebrate

Infinity Blade II and Tiny Wings are just some of the games you can download for free today as part of the iOS App Store’s 5th birthday celebrations.

The App Store launched on July 10th, 2008 and its impact on the video games market cannot be understated.

Now mobile publishers have made their acclaimed games available for free to celebrate, presumably for this week only.

Titles already on offer include Infinity Blade II, Tiny Wings, Badland, Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP, and Where’s My Water, with reports emerging that more games are expected to join in the price-slashing fun.

As of May this year, more than 50 billion apps have been downloaded through the Apple App Store over the last five years.
