JAPAN: PES bosses November

Things might not be going quite as smoothly for the Pro Evolution Soccer series in Europe as publisher Konami would have hoped, but the series is showing no signs of lagging in its homeland of Japan.

Kotaku reports that PES 2010 was the best selling game throughout November in Japan, shifting 322k units throughout the period.

Furthermore, it had to beat off the advances of cult fighting franchise Tekken 6 (159k), RPG title Persona 3 Portable (174k) and new release Bayonetta (187k) to claim its monthly crown.

EA last month claimed that its own football title, FIFA 10, is currently outselling PES 2010 by a ratio of 4-1, with EA UK VP Keith Ramsdale going as far as to say that Konami’s IP is struggling like most other non-mainstream franchises”.

Furthermore, EA has been keen to big up the growing acceptance of its own series in the Far East.
