JAPAN: Wii Sports Resort arrives

The UK still has a few weeks left before what could potentially be the biggest ever Wii title arrives at retail, but Wii Sports Resort is out in Japan right now and has already been selling in big numbers.

Kotaku reports that Nintendo’s Motion Plus enhanced title sold 353,827 copies in its first four days on sale.

The number is impressive, though maybe less so when compared to the debuts of some other Wii big hitters. Super Smash Bros Brawl, for instance, shifted 816,000 units in its first four days on the Japanese market, whilst Mario Kart Wii sold 608,000.

Of course, much like Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort is likely to be a year-round seller and could yet go on to capture a few records.

Wii Sports Resort will be released in the UK on July 24th and will come bundled with Nintendo’s Wii Motion Plus attachment.
