Japanese government investigating overheating Vita claims

An investigation into overheating PlayStation Vitas has been launched by a Japanese government agency.

Sony admits that there have been 31 reported examples of Vita units overheating whilst being recharged between its launch in December and June of this year, Andriasang reports.

23 of these were in japan and eight spread across the UK, US and Australia. In every case the problem was suffered at the point of connection between the charging lead and the unit.

Sony, however, will not issue a recall as it believes the problem is with people having liquids or other objects inserted in the connection”.
