Just Dance eclipses 5m UK sales

Just Dance has now sold over 5m units in the UK, says Ubisoft.

The firm revealed the stat ahead of the launch of the next Just Dance title – Just Dance 2014.

The multi-platform hit has generated most of its sales from Nintendo Wii. Nintendo’s home console business has struggled over the last 12 months, but Ubisoft still remains bullish over the potential of its dance hit.

Just Dance is still the No.1 dance franchise in the UK and has continued to exceed expectations. It has been incredibly successful since it first launched and is a definite crowd-pleaser, particularly popular around Christmas,” said Ombeline Wallon, senior brand manager.

It has been a difficult couple of years, especially for the Wii market, which is where Just Dance has been the most successful so far. But we’ve also seen increasing interest from consumers on other formats. We are looking forward to seeing them embrace Just Dance 2014 on the next generation of consoles,” Wallon added.

Ubisoft has booked two campaigns for Just Dance 2014. The first is aimed at the franchise’s core fans and will run at launch. The second is a separate campaign set for December, designed to cash-in on the Christmas gifting period. The game’s advertising will include promotion through TV, radio, video-on-demand and online.

The game is scheduled for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Wii U on October 4th.

Just Dance 2014 will be available on Xbox One and PS4 late 2013 following the launch of the two consoles in November.
