Kickstarter game projects total $107.6m in pledges

Kickstarter pledges have totaled over $22m thus far in 2013, with $107.6m pledged lifetime to games alone on the crowdfunding site.

A Kickstarter blog post reports that since the service started in 2009, 1,476 new games have been successfully funded by over 633k backers.

More than 4,500 game-related projects have appeared on the service, with around 1,000 launching in just the past 12 months. The organization specifically cites Double Fine’s massive success in February 2012 as a real tipping point for site activity.

The totals don’t include the nearly $3m raised so far by the record-breaking Torment Kickstarter, which is still in-progress with two weeks left to go in the campaign.

Here’s a break down of dollars pledged to games each year:

2009: $60,601

2010: $546,362

2011: $3,855,692

2012: $83,144,565

2013: $22,423,264 (and counting)
