LulzSec defiant after MET raid, denies Census attack

Just minutes after news broke of an arrest in Essex believed to be linked with hacker group LulzSec, the group has denied that the man in question has any link to the collective.

"Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it’s all over now," it said via Twitter. "Wait… we’re all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?"

Furthermore, reports have now emerged that the 19-year old Essex man arrested by the MET this morning was in fact Ryan Cleary, a known associate of Anonymous.

The MET has confirmed that the suspect was specifically charged in connection with a DDOS attack on the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) website – an attack LulzSec has previously claimed responsibility for.

This morning it was claimed that LulzSec had hacked into the UK Census 2011 database, though the group has since denied the claims.

"Not sure we claimed to hack the UK census or where that rumour started, but we assume it’s because people are stupider than you and I," it said.

Furthermore, a Twitter feed linked to Anonymous has also commented on the Ryan Cleary rumours.

"We heard that some kid got arrested in the UK in relation with LulzSec," it stated. "If it is Ryan then LulzSec are alright."

Anonymous released the personal details of Ryan Cleary over a month ago following an internal dispute within the group.
