Mattel grabs Halo master licensing agreement

Microsoft has agreed a deal to hand an extensive set of toy licensing rights to Mattel.

The pair already partner for products such as Halo Mega Bloks, but this new agreement will lead to a far wider range of merchandise, with a unified creative and design vision across the catalogue.

The success we’ve seen with the Halo Mega Bloks franchise over the years laid the foundation for this partnership,” 343 Industries boss Bonnie Ross said. We’re excited to work with Mattel to bring innovative, quality and, most of all, fun products to old and new Halo fans alike.”

Mattel’s SVP of Toy Box design and marketing Joe Lawandus added: We’re excited to expand our relationship with Halo and 343 Industries to create and collaborate on a broad range of multi-category toys and collectibles. From Mega Bloks to blasters, action figures to radio controlled vehicles, our new line for 2016 features something for Halo fans everywhere.”

Confirmed new products due to be on show at this weekend’s New York Toy Fair include a pair of BoomCo blasters (UNSC MA5 and Brute Spiker), several new Mega Blok SKUs (Warthog, UNSC vehicle and two figure assortments), both six inch and 12 inch figures, two radio control vehicles (Warthog Anti-Tank and Warthog Light Reconnaissance) and an Energy Sword.
