MCV Awards 2010: See the video here

The UK games industry may be increasingly mature, but it still has a sense of humour.

Leading execs from Electronic Arts, Activision, Nintendo, Sega, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Future and more starred in a special sizzle video shown at the MCV Industry Excellence Awards last week, just before host Marcus Brigstocke took over and revealed the winners.

The curtain-raiser to a packed room full of 650 top UK games retailers and suppliers is a spoof of classic 1979 Buggles hit Video Killed The Radio Star.

It features EA boss Ramsdale and Activision boss Andrew Brown in lead roles, plus Dawn Paine and Karen Ionescu (Nintendo), John Cark (Sega), Sarah Seaby (Bethesda), James Binns (Future), Caroline Miller (Indigo Pearl), Mark Hennessey (Ubi), Rachael Grant (Ubi) and Mark Slaughter (Ubi).

The night itself was a huge success, celebrating the best of the UK games industry, with a full list of winners available here.

Sponsors included Nintendo, Codemasters, Anti-Grav Media, Just Dance, Premier Public Relations, Take Off Creative Services, The Hut Group and PMA.

Last year the MCV Awards video featured various bosses in a boy band, re-enacting Keep On Moving by Five. Yes really.

Over the past year it has achieved a staggering 8,000 views on You Tube and is always worth another look.
