Marketing director leaves Sony
Alan Duncan has left SCE UK after almost 13 years at PlayStation UK.
He began his career in the games industry at GT Interactive in 1998 and joined Sony a year later as product manager moving up to marketing manager and finally marketing director.
"Alan has been a key member of the PlayStation UK management team and can feel justifiably proud of what he has achieved here," said Sony’s UK managing director Fergal Gara.

Asda bumps Thirkell to games buying manager
Craig Thirkell is the supermarket’s new games buying manager.
Thirkell has 17 years under his belt at Asda, joining the firm as a store manager in 1995. He has had numerous roles within the company, including head of Asda mobile.
Thirkell will start his role from August 1st, leaving his current position of buying manager for vision and audio products. He replaces Andrew Thompson, who departs the games industry after ten years to work within the supermarket’s electronics department. He will head up portable media and computing.
Thompson joined Asda in 2009 after six years at specialist games retailer Gamestation.
It is with much sadness that I leave the games industry after 10 fantastic years, however, I’m extremely excited about the forthcoming change and the new challenge that lays ahead for me,” said Thompson, Through his passion for product, Craig has driven massive improvements in the quality of our electronics products over a number of years.”
Nintendo Life editor joins Nintendo
Nintendo Life editor James Newton will start as Nintendo’s junior online editor in Frankfurt, Germany from this August.
Newton joined Nintendo Life in 2008, working on editorial policy and content for networked sites: Nintendo Life, Push Square and KINECTaku.
Nintendo Life’s growth since I joined has been amazing, and I’ve enjoyed every minute working with its talented and dedicated team,” said Newton. I’m truly proud of what we’ve been able to build and confident that the site will keep expanding and improving after my departure.
I’m incredibly excited to join the team at Nintendo of Europe next month and can’t wait to start my adventure in Germany”
Replacing Newton as Nintendo Life’s editor is editorial director and freelance journalist Damien McFerran.
McFerran has previously contributed to Retro Gamer, GamesTM, Eurogamer, Pocket Gamer and CNET UK.
Staff changes at Eurogamer
Ellie Gibson returns to the site part-time as associate features editor and Oli Welsh is promoted to deputy editor.
