IGN promotes Krupa to games editor

The games and entertainment media giant has promoted Daniel Krupa to games editor. He joined IGN from university in 2011 and quickly built his reputation after reviewing new titles for the outlet.

Krupa is also nominated in the Rising Star category for this year’s Games Media Awards by industry peers.

Within his new role, Krupa will oversee IGN’s day-to-day editorial planning and content management, ensuring the content written by the UK team is promoted worldwide.

He will continue to write and host content on the site and will report to UK editor-in-chief Alex Simmons.

IGN was Daniel’s first break in games media, so I’m delighted he quickly made a name for himself on the world’s largest website – not just in the UK, but internationally,” said Simmons.

He’s respected by readers and a much-loved member of the team who has also become a powerful voice for the games industry in the mainstream press.”

Kalypso hires sales VP for North American and Asian divisions

Sherry Heller has joined the publisher as vice president of sales for its North American and Asian games divisions. Heller is an industry veteran who has previously held sales positions at THQ, Cosmi and ValuSoft.

Within her new role, she will manage sales and distribution of Kalypso USA’s games catalogue across both PC and console platforms.

I am very excited to join the Kalypso USA family,” said Heller. Kalypso has an outstanding current product line-up, and I’m happy to work with them to expand their American and global distribution reach for future products.”

Simon Hellwig, global managing director of Kalypso Media Group added: We are delighted to have Sherry on board and we are sure that her expertise and enthusiasm will help us to expand our business in North America and Asia.”

Axis Animation appoints producer

Debbie Ross has been promoted to creative executive producer at the Glasgow-based studio.

Ross has over seven years of industry experience within animation production and takes on the new role having been promoted from her previous position of executive producer. She will handle client relationships and develop new opportunities for the studio.

I’m delighted to be moving into this new position,” said Ross. It’s an exciting time for Axis as we take on ever more challenging and high-profile projects. My aim is to continue our development as a leading player in video games on the global stage.”

Richard Scott, co-founder and executive producer at Axis, added: I’m very excited about Debbie’s move into the role of creative executive producer. She has been a cornerstone of the studio for many years.”
