190 jobs lost at HMV
Administrator Deloitte yesterday confirmed that 190 employees have been let go from bankrupt entertainment retailer HMV. Departures include head of technology and games Ewan Pinder and chief financial officer Ian Kenyon.

Nutter heads up Future entertainment publishing
Future has promoted Lee Nutter to the position of group publisher for the entertainment group.

He moves having most recently served on Total Film and Official Nintendo Magazine. Nutter has been at Future since 2003 where he joined as editor of PSW.

This well deserved promotion reflects the work Lee has put into the Total Film and Official Nintendo Magazine brands,” head of entertainment Clair Porteous stated.

Lee’s experience in the videogames sector is exceptional and as we continue to drive and accelerate digital growth in the entertainment group, Lee will play a pivotal role in pushing this agenda forwards.”

GameSpot gets new account director

Michael Thomas has joined CBS Interactive UK as client account director at GameSpot UK. In the role, Thomas will advise clients on the best advertising solutions for their businesses, starting with strengthening GameSpot’s impact among games publishers.

Thomas joins the company from his role as associate director on the EA and Now TV accounts at MediaCom.

New head of games at PlayJam
Mobile industry veteran Sameer Baroova has joined PlayJam as head of games.

Willington goes full-time at Pocket Gamer
Peter Willington has been made a full-time member of the Pocket Gamer team, taking on the role of community manager and handheld editor.
