Megastores back on track

Like arch-rival HMV, games were a bright spot within the entertainment space over the Christmas trading period, with Megastores boasting a 32 per cent leap in like-for-like games sales in the five weeks ending January 7th.

And this has spurred the chain into further investing in interactive entertainment over the coming year.

“We’re looking at a ten to 15 per cent increase in games store space,” he said. “We want to build on what we’ve done in the last few years and work closely with suppliers on new releases, particularly hardware, as I think Virgin can create great theatre around them and build on its reputation as a credible games retailer.”
