Meredith to spearhead Warners Euro push

Meredith (Pictured with Ron Scott) joins Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment as vice president of sales and distribution for Europe, and will oversee the games publishing business, covering sales and trade marketing for WBIE across all European markets. He will report to senior vice president of worldwide sales and distribution, Ron Scott.

Meredith and his team will be based in the European head office in London, with local teams in territories including the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Nordic and Benelux.

We have a strong commitment to growth in the European market and to do that our strategy is to hire the best in the business,” said Warner’s Ron Scott.

Chris’s extensive experience in European gaming and the interactive space in general will be of great value to us as we build our European business.”

Meredith began his European interactive entertainment career with the launch of PlayStation in Europe, moved to MicroProse, 3Dfx and later set up Majesco Entertaiment in Europe. More recently, Meredith has successfully run his own company advising major mobile gaming companies such as Glu and I-play.

Opportunities like this are very rare. I’m therefore delighted to be joining a company with such a great brand portfolio and massive potential within the games sector,” said Meredith. There are challenges ahead, but we certainly intend to be a significant force in European games publishing.”

The first Warner game to be self-published in Europe will be Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal on PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS on November 30th. Distribution options are currently under review.

Warner is looking to become a significant global games publisher, with a stated target of $1 billion annual sales within five years.

It will do this via a wide brief, including the use of its own IP, plus by acquiring and developing new properties. Warner will also use its parent organisation’s sales, distribution and marketing resources to offer services to third parties.
