Microsoft partners with Oculus to stream Xbox One games in VR

Oculus and Microsoft have announced a partnership that will pair the consumer model of the Oculus Rift with an Xbox One controller and allow owners of the console to stream Xbox One games to the VR headset.

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer took the stage at the virtual reality firm’s Future of Oculus event to reveal that an Xbox One controller and wireless adapter will be included in every Oculus Rift consumer package and work natively with Windows 10.

Along with the hardware coupling, the companies will also work together to stream Xbox One games to the Oculus Rift in a virtual home theater” environment that utilizes the headset’s integrated audio system.

Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe also hinted at more social users for the Rift on Xbox One and Windows 10 to be revealed in the future.

"There is going to be a lot more to come," Iribe said.
