Sony has announced the PlayStation 4 edition of Minecraft will receive a retail release in Europe and North America.
Both Europe and US PlayStation Blogs have posted details on the physical release, with the game hitting shops on October 3rd in Europe and October 7th stateside. A day-one patch is also set to land upon release.
Minecraft’s worlds in PS4 are much larger than the PS3 version (like the digital offering of the game), and PS3 owners will have the option to import PS3 saves.
The post also gave the still unreleased PS Vita edition of Minecraft a mention, stating that information on how cross-buy functionality will work with the PS3 version wil be spilled soon.
The move comes thanks to a strong digital launch for Mojang’s hit indie on Sony’s latest hardware; and despite Microsoft’s recent acquisition of the property.
