Minecraft XBLA dated for May, Arcade Next revealed

Microsoft has revealed a launch date for the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade edition of Minecraft.

As promised, Play XBLA has the goods on the 360 version’s release date along with some other notable info.

The port of the PC megahit will be out on May 9th, and will run you 1600 MS points ($20).

Microsoft also revealed the game will be released as part of Xbox 360’s Arcade NEXT season. Trials Evolution (April 18th), Bloodforge (April 25th), and Fable Heroes (May 2nd) will join Minecraft to round out the participating titles.

This is going to be the best four weeks of game releases in the history of Xbox LIVE Arcade,” Microsoft Studios‘ Senior Director of Digital Publishing Ted Woolsey stated in the announcement.

The Arcade NEXT season will also see Microsoft bringing the available achievement points in XBLA titles up to 30, and subsequently earned gamer points up to 400.
