Mod support heading to Sega Mega Drive games on Steam

Publishers are typically quite precious about their retro properties, which makes Sega’s latest announcement somewhat of a welcome surprise.

The company is releasing a free Sega Mega Drive Classics Hub on Steam on April 28th, and is features include Steam Workshop support.

The new-look system is based on a bedroom of an early nineties Sega fan with dynamic time-of-day conditions, retro Sega paraphernalia, a shelf full of Mega Drive games (including the ones you own) and of course a CRT TV,” Sega said.

That’s not all, every single Mega Drive game will now feature Steam Workshop support allowing you to share modified versions of your favourite retro Sega titles.

Other hub features include accurate emulation, local co-op (for games that originally supported it), optional graphics filters, full keyboard and controller support and manual saves.

50 games will be available (at a price) through the hub. Those who already own any of the games will get the hub udate for free:
