Monster Hunter 4G and New Nintendo 3DS continue to rule Japanese chart

Monster Hunter 4G has remained top of the Japanese software chart for a second week, according to the latest data provided by Famitsu.

Capcom’s hugely popular beast-slaying title saw its unit sales fall by over 1.3 million, but given that it sold over 1.6 million last week, it’s unsurprising that it still stayed top of the rankings.

Nintendo’s revamped 3DS models, the New Nintendo 3DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS, similarly continued to occupy the top of the hardware chart. Sales of the New 3DS XL fell by more than 100,000 units.

Slightly further down the chart, Sony’s handheld, the Vita, overtook its bigger brother, the PS4. Sales of the latter machine were down more than 3,000 week-on-week.

Back in the software rankings, two new entries – Chaos Rings III: Prequel Trilogy and Amnesia Later: Crowd V Edition – barely upset last week’s positions.

However, Sony’s DriveClub has now vanished from the Top Ten, making way for the return of Destiny on the PS3 and Dragon Quest X Online on the 3DS, at tenth and eighth respectively.

EA’s FIFA 15, which during the previous week, slips just one place, down to sixth for the PS3 version. The PS4 version, however, falls slightly further – down three rungs to ninth.

Here’s the weekly software chart for the week ending October 19th:
