Moon director takes on World of Warcraft movie

Duncan Jones, the director of Moon and Source Code, has signed up to direct the big screen live-action adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft.

Warcraft has a script by K-PAX and Blood Diamond screenwriter Charles Leavitt whilst Charles Roven, producer of the Dark Knight trilogy, takes on producing duties along with Thomas Trull, Jon Jashni and Alex Gartner.

Having brought Moon to the screen for $1 million, Warcraft will be Jones’ biggest project to date with a budget of around $100 million.

Sam Raimi, director of the Spider-Man trilogy and The Evil Dead, had previously been attached to the project back in 2009 but dropped out to direct Wizard of Oz prequel Oz: The Great and Powerful.

The film is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2015.
