Morgan: Rivals cant compete with the GAME experience

GAME Group CEO Lisa Morgan has said that its mix of offers, pre-owned software and ‘fantastic’ staff set it apart from its supermarket and online competitors.

Speaking to financial news site Cantos, Morgan said that both online and in-store, the firm offered a shopping ‘experience’ that is "way beyond our competition".

She was asked: You’re facing increased threat from non-specialists and also online retailers like eBay and Amazon – especially in the pre-owned area. What are you doing about that?”

Morgan replied: First and foremost, the video games market has always been very competitive. We focus on our specialist difference: giving our consumers a unique shopping experience, whether it be in our stores or on our website.

Whether it be our store environment, our offers and promotions, the fact we have the widest range, our fantastic and enthusiastic staff or some of our more unique benefits like our trade-in programme, our pre-owned offer or even our GAME reward card; all of these taken together are a package that ensure our customers have an experience that is way beyond that of our competitors.

And we don’t sit back on our laurels – we’re constantly looking at ways we can improve our offer and make sure we stay ahead of our competition.”

Morgan was speaking after the retailer unveiled its hugely successful full-year financial results this morning, which revealed a year-on-year pre-tax profits jump of 156 per cent.
