Multiplay ready for UK eSports boom

This is the year of eSports in the UK, says event specialist Multiplay.

The iSeries organiser claims the widespread popularity of games has raised the profile of professional gaming, and that consumers are turning to eSports titles as new releases dry up at retail.

Gaming in general is now more mainstream, and this has been growing from the whole ‘geek is in’ culture we’ve seen in the last few years,” community marketing manager Stevie Ward told MCV.

With less popular MMOs being produced and a massive procession of uninteresting titles, games like League of Legends and StarCraft are taking centre stage.

I only see this getting bigger, and we’re expecting interest in our iSeries events to flourish as a result. It’s a good time to be in eSports.”

Multiplay hosted the i48 tournament and LAN gaming party at Telford last weekend.
