New Alien game from Creative Assembly

A brand new title in the Alien video game franchise has been confirmed this morning, MCV can reveal.

In development at Sega owned studio Creative Assembly, at this stage it’s simply being described as an "action title". The developer has told MCV that it maintains an "open mind" about which platforms it will be released on, adding that both Nintendo consoles and maybe even the next generation of consoles are a possibility.

It intends to increase its staff count from its current 160 to around 200 people, with a brand new 10,000 sq ft work space having been allocated to the project.

Creative Assembly is best known for its work on the Total War simulation series, though it is also the studio behind action titles such as Spartan: Total Warrior and Viking: Battle for Asgard.

In February 2009 it was confirmed that work on an Aliens RPG at US developer Obsidian had been abandoned. Sega enjoyed great success with shooter Aliens vs Predator last year and also has Aliens: Colonial Marines in development at Gearbox.
