EA and Sega may say otherwise, but Konami reckons Metal Gear Rising is the first blockbuster of 2013.
The action game launches after Dead Space 3 and Aliens: Colonial Marines. But Konami has huge faith in the title. It’s even backing the game with its biggest campaign for a “long time”.
“It’s the first blockbuster in terms of presentation, content and gameplay,” said Brain Ayers, UK PR and marketing manager. “Legions of fans are keen to see how the collaboration between Kojima’s studio and Platinum Games work out.”
Marketing activity includes an extensive PR and print push, TV ads, London Underground posters and retail billboards.
There will also be a major online campaign, plus extensive activity on XBLA, PSN, Amazon, Ticketmaster, IMDB, and LiveNation.
