New Super Mario Bros Wii to top 15m sales

An analyst has predicted that New Super Mario Bros Wii’s lifetime sales will exceed 15 million units.

Electronic Entertainment Design and Research’s Jesse Divnich also claimed the Nintendo game will be the biggest selling title of 2009, and expects it to outsell the Xbox 360 edition of Activision Blizzard’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by the end of the year.

He estimates that Nintendo has sold 635,000 Wii consoles and 400,000 DS units during October.

EEDAR expects Nintendo to hold onto its console supremacy in November and December,” said Divnich.

Elsewhere, EEDAR predicts October will see the PS3 as the only console to show a rise in sales when compared to the same month last year, estimating a year-on-year increased of over 68 per cent to 320,00 units.

The firm also claims the Xbox 360 could see a year-on-year drop of 25 per cent with just 280,000 units sold in the month.
