Nintendo Japan unveils more powerful Wii U GamePad battery

A bigger battery pack for the Wii U GamePad is in the works, though only in Japan at the moment.

Eurogamer reports Nintendo Japan recently announced the upgraded battery pack, alongside a few other new hardware accessories for the Wii U.

The new 2,550mAh model will provide double the power from its predecessor, offering eight hours of battery life versus the 3-5 hour maximum life with the current model.

Nintendo also revealed a white version of the 32GB Wii U Premium, a new hardware bundle with Nintendo Land and a Wii Remote battery pack with charging cradle.

While the announcements were local to Japan, there might be international plans in store for the accessories with E3 on the horizon.
