Nintendo launches its own digital magazine Nintendo Extra

A month after the final issue of Official Nintendo Magazine hit shelves, Nintendo has launched its own digital magazine.

It’s called Nintendo Extra and issue one is available now. The content seems focused on a younger audience and focuses on each of the company’s key IPs.

As well as written features users will find video and machinima elements, as well as a beginner’s guide to the Zelda series penned by series producer Eiji Aonuma himself.

It’s not clear how often Nintendo will release new content.

Nintendo and Future announced the closure of Official Nintendo Magazine last month.

Nintendo will continue to speak directly to fans via Nintendo Direct, our social media and online channels and public events,” a statement released by the platform holder claimed.

Nintendo has decided to direct efforts toward other communication channels to communicate with fans, and Future is focusing on a core of existing sites with the recently launched Kotaku UK providing a great platform for our wealth of Nintendo experts from ONM and the wider Future network.”
