Nintendo takes aim at South America

Nintendo is plotting an aggressive Spanish marketing campaign in Latin America to boost sales of its hardware.

The promotional assault will most like happen before Christmas and will focus on sports and fitness games.

The platform holder believes the territory’s video game market could be worth up to $2 billion this year alone.

"The long-term economic potential of Latin America makes this an extremely important market for videogames," Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Reuters.

"Nintendo has experienced phenomenal growth in the region over the past few years, growth that has even surpassed what we have seen in the United States."
