No digital release for Titanfall on Xbox 360

EA will not be releasing the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall as a Games on Demand download.

After extensive testing, we felt that it simply did not represent the true Titanfall experience and it was decided not to release a Games on Demand version,” a statement on EA’s help pages says.

As we never officially announced that Titanfall would be available via Games on Demand and the option to purchase it that way should have never been offered. We hope players understand this decision was all about quality and making sure you get the best Titanfall experience.”

This can probably be interpreted one of two ways. One, that there was a technical issue with the digital version, as has been seen in the past with the likes of Grand Theft Auto V. Or two, that the entire thing is just some PR spin to mask a strategic reason for holding back the digital release.

The good news, however, is that the specialist press has heaped praise on the last-gen port, which apparently holds up remarkably well in the face of the Xbox One and PC releases.

Titanfall has since March been available both physically and digitally on Xbox One and PC.
