No more 2TB Xbox Ones S for now, Microsoft confirms

Those who are yet to put their hands on a 2TB Xbox One S may be out of luck.

Reports emerged earlier this week claiming that the launch supply of the hard to find machine may be all we’re getting. GameSpot has now had this confirmed directly from Microsoft.

"The 2TB Xbox One S was released as a special launch edition in limited quantities only,” it stated. We’re thrilled at the amount of interest we’ve received and we are always looking for opportunities to offer choice and fantastic value to our fans. Please check with your local retailer to determine whether the 2TB Xbox One S is still available in your market."

One senior UK retail source has also confirmed to MCV that they have been told there will be no more stock of the machine in the near future. The news is all the more surprising considering the low number of 2TB units released into the UK – around 7,000, our source added.

However, we’ve also been led to understand that a future re-release for the high-capacity SKU after the launch of the 1TB, 500GB and 2TB Gears of War versions has not been ruled out.

Those who are unwilling to wait, however, always have the option of hooking up an external HDD to any of the models.
