The developers of Professor Layton have revealed they are not planning on bringing the hugely popular puzzle series to Wii.
Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine, Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino said the chances of the Layton franchise coming to the best-selling console are unlikely.
“We currently have no plans for a Wii releases,” he stated.
However, he assured fans there would be plenty of lateral thinking teasers to come in the form of a second trilogy of Layton titles.
“The current trilogy comes to a conclusion with Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, but we will be releasing the first title of the new trilogy, Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny in Japan,” he said.
“The new trilogy will also be based around solving puzzles, but will also includes greatly improved bonus modes so I think that players will be able to enjoy the games for even longer.”
The second game in the current trilogy, Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box released last month to widespread acclaim and high sales. It debuted at No.2 in the All Formats Chart, bested only by Halo 3: ODST.
