Now PC manufacturers warn of Brexit price rises

A number of the leading PC manufacturers have said that prices may have to increase to offset the sharp decreases being suffered by the post-Brexit pound.

PC Gamer reports that Dell was the first to act, saying that it was to raise prices by ten per cent in the UK. That means a sharp increase to Alienware products, among other things.

Both Lenovo and Hewlett-Packard have said they are considering price increases, too. The former said it may also have to make European job cuts to cope with the change.

Earlier this week OnePlus said it was raising the price of its new smartphone. With the PC and smartphone sectors upping RRPs, a shift in console hardware and software prices is looking increasingly likely.

The question now is how long it will be until the first platform holder warns of similar measures? Are the previously announced launch prices of the PlayStation VR (349) and Xbox One S (249, 299 and 349) safe? And what of the price of existing hardware? And software?

The pound is still currently trading at below $1.30, representing a 31-year low.
